The new logistics terminal in Finspång brings all logistics operations under one roof. From incoming materials to finished goods ready for delivery, everything is handled here. According to Maria Borg, Production Director Finishing & Logistics, at Gränges in Finspång, the purpose is clear: to create smooth flows and secure deliveries.
"It’s not enough to produce, we also need to deliver to get paid. The new terminal makes it easier to manage the entire chain," she says.
The terminal handles over 50 inbound and outbound deliveries daily. It receives materials from both internal flows, such as production and battery foil production, and external flows, then stores and ships them to customers worldwide.
Stronger collaboration and better structureOne of the biggest improvements is having the entire operation in one place.
"Being under the same roof gives us a clear strength as a team," says Maria Borg.
The new terminal also provides a long-term solution as a dedicated facility built to meet the team and production’s needs, instead of relying on lease agreements.
Safety and clear flowsSafety has been a key priority in the design of the terminal. Both the layout of the facility and the traffic flows have been carefully planned.
"We handle a large number of deliveries every day, so clear and safe flows are essential for our work environment," Maria Borg explains.
Digital solutions have also been introduced to improve communication. A new arrival registration system guides drivers in multiple languages and sends information directly to the terminal, saving time and reducing the risk of miscommunication.
Smarter ways of working and future developmentThe terminal is equipped with modern technology, including a new truck scale with automated inbound and outbound weighing, enabling more efficient handling and better control.
"We're already seeing improvements in both safety and efficiency, and going forward we have the capacity to grow further," says Maria Borg.
Logistics needs are always evolving, and the terminal is built to develop over time. The next step is to complete the parking area and slab storage area to further streamline operations.
