In October 2024, Gränges acquired a cost-efficient casting and hot-rolling facility in the Shandong Province, China, from Shandong Innovation Group (SIG). This acquisition and extended strategic partnership with SIG aim to strengthen Gränges' competitiveness in the Asian market. Strengthening the scale, efficiency, and sustainability of the Asian operations enhance its foundation for sustainable growth. This responds to the strong demand for its high-quality, sustainable aluminium solutions. The facility will be named Gränges Shandong and joins the Gränges Asia organization.

Gränges acquired the Polish flat rolled aluminium producer Aluminium Konin on November 6 2020. The acquisition strengthens Gränges’ product offering and presence in Europe and contributes with strong positions in new attractive niche markets. Aluminium Konin adds new capabilities and capacity to expand Gränges’ offering for future transportation solutions, such as electric vehicles, and contributes to a stronger position in growing markets. The acquisition is a good strategic fit for Gränges and enhances the company’s platform for sustainable profitable growth. The acquired business will change the name to Gränges Konin and be a part of the Gränges Europe organization.

In October 2017, Gränges invested in a production company – GETEK GmbH – together with Erbslöh Aluminium GmbH to produce aluminium billets utilizing advanced spray-forming technology. For Gränges the investment provides opportunities to expand within Active brazing with products such as TRILLIUM®, an innovative technology that enhances the production and performance of brazed aluminium heat exchangers. In August 2016, Gränges acquired Noranda’s rolled aluminium operations in the US. The acquisition, which meant that Gränges’ more than doubled its sales volume, is strategically important and in line with Gränges’ target of being market leading in all geographical regions by 2020. Noranda’s operations represent a good complement to Gränges’ current business, and strengthens the position in the Americas and globally, which creates excellent opportunities for continued profitable growth.
