Sustainability

A key business driver

Aluminium plays an important role in the shift towards a circular economy. With its light weight, infinite recyclability, durability, and strength, aluminium contributes significantly to the sustainability of a variety of products. At the same time, the production of aluminium is highly energy intensive. The aluminium industry accounts for about two percent of the world’s direct industrial carbon emissions. While overall demand for aluminium is expected to grow by almost 40 percent by 2030, increased demand for low-carbon aluminium solutions highlights the importance of aluminium in mitigating climate impact.

Gränges’ sustainability plan promotes the development of sustainable and circular aluminium solutions to drive long-term growth. The plan is built around three main focus areas, each supported by clear, long-term goals that guide the company’s sustainability efforts. In addition, the plan upholds the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
