Gränges’ production facility in Konin, Poland, has successfully achieved dual certification against the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s (ASI) Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard. With this, Gränges has reached its goal to have ASI certified all its aluminium rolling and recycling sites by 2025.
ASI is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standards setting and certification organisation which works to maximise the contribution of aluminium to a sustainable society. As of today, Gränges has certified all its aluminium rolling facilities worldwide. “Ensuring that our aluminium products are responsibly sourced and produced is a cornerstone in our sustainability strategy. Certifying our facilities against ASI gives our customers the transparency and chain of custody that they need to ensure responsibly produced products. It is also a clear testimony of Gränges’ sustainability leadership within the aluminium industry,” says Sofia Hedevåg, SVP Sustainability. “The Konin operations have been part of Gränges since 2020. Much has been done in a short time to adapt the business to Gränges' ambitious goals for sustainability in the entire value chain. Having all aluminium rolling and recycling facilities certified against ASI strengthens Gränges’ competitiveness and attractiveness to customers globally,” says Fredrik Spens, President, Gränges Europe. In 2019 Gränges set the goal to certify all production sites against ASI standards by 2025. Gränges Powder Metallurgy in Saint Avold, France, is not included in the certification scope. About the ASI standards The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. The Chain of Custody certification assures that Gränges’ products are responsibly sourced and produced across the entire supply chain, from extraction of raw materials to the finished product. The independent, third-party audit of Gränges Konin was carried out by TÜV Rheinland.
